Arthritic dog pain relief w/out a prescription!

As an owner of a senior dog, I've searched countless ways to relieve pain naturally and have dedicated a lot of my time on this topic. Today I divulge my top five secrets to alleviate arthritic dog pain without a prescription! Keep their liver healthy and avoid NSAIDs as much as possible...

Chantilace Natural Pain Management Techniques

1. Provide your dog with a soothing hot bath

They might look pitiful and seem to despise you in the moment but trust me, they will thank you. You can spruce things up by adding essential oils for a extra dose of relaxation and anti- inflammation aid.

Add a couple drops of each in the bath...

Lavender Essential Oil: Great for pain relief and relaxation. Contains anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and sedative properties. It also aids to relieve muscle tension and spasms, joint pain and headache.

Rosemary Essential Oil: Contains analgesic and antispasmodic properties and is good for soothing back pain, muscle, and joint pain.

Helichrysum Essential Oil: Expensive because it has it all; anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, and analgesic properties.

2. Heating Pad

More HEAT! Place a heating element wherever your pet enjoys to cuddle. This will offer a comforting haven for your pet to rest his or her aches away.

Yes! Heating beds made specifically for dogs do exist and the prices are decent considering they have build in temperature controls to protect and prevent overheating.

*Remember always follow proper guidelines when using a heating element. You want to protect their sensitive body from burns or overheating.

3. Inflatable Bed

Yup. When my mom was visiting last year, we used my air mattress during her stay and the animals were all over it. It makes total sense. Stiff achy bones on a cloud of air?

I've searched everywhere for a bed appropriate for the size of my dog (70 lbs) and accommodating for my small apartment. Well folks, I could only find them in the kids department. It's a bit smaller than a twin both in length and width but NOT kitty nail proof as my cats have demonstrated and destroyed. If you've got a small dog, you're in luck! Amazon has a great selection to pick from.

In the meantime, buying cheap kids inflatable beds will have to suffice.

4. Add More Nail Trims to Your Schedule

Older dogs spend less time in activity mode which lessens their ability to trim their nails naturally. Make sure to add more frequent trimmings to your schedule. Long nails can cause nerve and muscle pain overtime and the last thing an arthritic dog needs is more pain, right?

5. Supplements

Make sure you know your dog's current health status by checking in with your veterinarian before starting your dog on any supplement regime. There are lots of products out there and it can be a bit overwhelming to choose the right supplement.

I'm a big advocate for Synovi G4 Soft Chews and I provide it to my dog daily! It's been a blessing and has helped alleviate symptoms from aging hip displasia to stiff joints.

Ingredient Breadown:

Blend of Boswellia, Turmeric, and Antioxidants: Natural Anti-inflammatory properties without the side effect of NSAIDS.

Glucosamine: Necessary building block of cartilage (connective tissue found in joints). As your dog ages, your pet cannot produce enough to keep up with the body's needs.

MSM: Naturally produced in kelp, a cell rejuvenator and joint healer. Enhance integrity of connective tissues, powerful anti-inflammatory and pain reducing properties.

Creatine: Amino acid to help fuel the body's short term energy which plays a key role in muscle health.

My dog is pretty finicky and enjoys soft chews over a powdered tablet any day! It's also preferred in the veterinary community, especially in orthopedic surgical clinics. Actually, this is where I discovered this miraculous blend while working relief work in a local specialty surgical clinic.

Dosage:

I recommend doubling the dose for the first 4-6 weeks of intake (aka loading phase) and reducing to maintenance dose thereafter. You will maximize the effects & benefits while maintain a healthy dose in your pet's system.
